Barcelona sporting director Deco has admitted he’s been enjoying Hansi Flick’s brand of football but feels improvements are needed.
The Catalan giants won the double this year under the German coach but missed out in the Champions League to Inter.
Deco says he likes the team’s style but some changes are needed to progress and improve.
> “The way we play is the coach’s responsibility. I prefer an idea like ours to teams that prefer to speculate the game, defend well, counterattack... But, at the same time, we also want to win. Football is a balance of both,” he told Globo.

> “We are aware that we have to evolve in certain aspects. But I think that giving up on the style would be very difficult. It is a very clear idea of the game, which has its positive aspects. We need to reflect on what is good, to maintain it, and improve what is bad.”
Deco also delivered his verdict on Flick’s first season in charge and is happy with what he’s seen.
> “Flick was what we wanted, a coach with great management skills. It worked out and we are very happy. The performance was as expected. Last year we reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and we had the feeling that we could do a little more.” he added.

> “In the Championship, we dropped out of the running very early, the idea this season was to fight for the titles and fight until the last games. And that is what happened.”
