Benjamin Sesko could finally get a Premier League move this summer. Arsenal are pushing hard for the RB Leipzig hitman as they aim to bolster their frontline ahead of next season.
It would be quite the coup for the Gunners given the Slovenian striker has also been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in the past. He is one of two forwards that Mikel Arteta has his eyes on, the other being Viktor Gyokeres.
And while the North London side are firmly in the race, they could be met with one issue: competition from elsewhere. Saudi sides are also making their interest known having tabled a £30m-per-year deal to Gyokeres.
Al-Hilal are ready to make a move after losing out on Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen which could leave Arsenal’s plans in tatters. They want a deal struck TODAY, ahead of the first phase of the summer window closing. That would allow them to register the forward for the inaugural - and money spinning - Club World Cup.
It means that June 10, could be the defining day in the Sesko to Arsenal transfer saga, with a resolution potentially just hours away.
So, what exactly has Sesko said about his future and could he have dropped a clue about where his future lies? Mirror Football takes a look…
Leipzig ‘better’
This summer’s window is far from the first time that Sesko has been linked with a sensational Premier League switch. In 2023, Manchester United were very keen on him during a prolific spell at Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.
Unsurprisingly, Sesko eventually stayed within the Red Bull system as he moved to Leipzig for around £20m. And he explained exactly why he chose to snub a move to England.
"The thing is, I wasn't really involved in these kinds of conversations, but I think it was better to come here,” he said. "It was very important for me to go to a place that plays a similar style of football. I already knew what I had to do and didn't have to go through a whole learning process again."

‘Happy to stay’
Following a debut season in which he scored 18 goals in all competitions, Sesko’s stock was high once again, with Arsenal earmarking as their top summer target. But he surprisingly decided to sign a new deal in Germany until 2029.
Explaining why he was happy to commit his future to Leipzig, Sesko said: "I had a good first year at RB Leipzig and am incredibly happy to be here. Team, club, city, fans - the overall package is simply outstanding for me. The early contract extension was therefore the logical next step for me.
“Even though I didn't play or score as much in the first half of the season, this phase was very important for me and my development. I feel a lot of trust and appreciation throughout the club and that is crucial for being able to perform to my full potential. In the second half of the season in particular, I was able to give something back with my goals.
“We have a team with great potential and a balanced mix of young and experienced players. I'm really looking forward to taking the next steps with this team. We've already achieved a lot in my first season and often shown the amount of quality and outstanding football we can bring to the pitch. But there's still a lot more to be done and that's now our common goal."

‘Anything can happen’
Sesko continued his development with Leipzig during his second campaign at the club and scored a further 21 goals. And even more transfer interest was anticipated heading into the summer.
Sesko however was unfazed and was determined to just control his performances on the pitch. He said: "I'm now focusing on the final games until the end of the season, and then we'll see what happens.
“Anything can happen. But, for now, I'm 100 percent focused on Leipzig, especially on these last two games."
‘A club that suits me’
Intriguingly, Sesko then hinted at the type of club that he would want to sign for should he depart Leipzig in the near future. And in a positive update for those of an Arsenal persuasion, he suggested that money wouldn't be the driving factor behind his next move, but instead a club that would maximise his considerable ability.
Sesko said: “Leipzig has given me a lot and continues to give me a lot every day. It’s a great club to develop at. In the future, I want to play for a club that suits me, that brings out the best in me. That’s the most important thing for me.”
