Here We Go: Manchester City reach agreement for new goalkeeper, confirms Fabrizio Romano

**Manchester City have reached a full agreement with Chelsea to sign goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline, as confirmed by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.**

City announced Scott Carson’s departure at the end of his contract on Monday after six years with the club, with Bettinelli subsequenly reported to be on the club’s radar to provide backup to Ederson and Stefan Ortega Moreno.

Bettinelli joined Chelsea on a free transfer from Fulham in 2021 and with one year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, the Englishman is set to join forces with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

After announcing the signing of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves on Monday evening, Manchester City are expected to confirm the arrival of Italy midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan on Tuesday morning after the 26-year-old passed a medical over the weekend.

City have a 24 hours ahead as they conduct medicals and get paperwork done to confirm the signings of Bettinelli and Lyon’s Rayan Cherki ahead of the 7PM UK transfer deadline to register new signings for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Pep Guardiola is keen to have each of his new signings on the plane to the United States at the end of the week, with Manchester City taking on Wydad AC in their opening fixture of the tournament, which will run till mid-July.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak gave a peak through the curtain into the club’s intent as they enter the transfer market but not many would have expected four signings to be completed by the end of the 10-day June transfer window.

After announcing the signing of Ait-Nouri, City have also reached a full agreement with Chelsea to sign Bettinelli, as confirmed by transfer insider [Fabrizio Romano](https://x.com/City_Xtra/status/1932201392669651189). Bettinelli will complete a medical on Tuesday and join up with the Manchester City squad for the Club World Cup.

However, there could be more upheaval between the sticks for Manchester City when the summer transfer window reopens next month as Ederson and Ortega Moreno continue to be linked with exits.

Guardiola has made it clear he expects the goalkeeping pair to stay at the club next season but Ederson is keen on a move to Saudi Arabia and Ortega Moreno has attracted interest from Germany.

The duo are entering the final 12 months of their respective contracts and Manchester City are unlikely to turn down an offer for either that would be too good to refuse – should they look to avoid a scenario wherein they lose both Ederson and Ortega Moreno for free next summer.
