Matz Sels helped Nottingham Forest qualify for European football last season with some heroics between the posts.
His form earned him a share of the Golden Glove accolade alongside Arsenal stopper David Raya, whilst it’s also propelled him into the first choice for Belgium.
In truth, he likely remains behind Thibaut Courtois, but right now the Real Madrid goalkeeper isn’t available for selection, with Sels getting the nod instead.
After keeping goal in a 1-1 draw with North Macedonia over the weekend, Forest man Sels was once again in action last night, this time against Wales in the World Cup Qualifying campaign.

What started out as an easy night for Sels ended up turning into a bit of a shift, with the two teams producing a real battle.
Belgium led 4-3, were then pinned back to 3-3, and a late Kevin De Bruyne goal ensured a big three points for the heavy favourites.
Sels was guilty of giving a penalty away during the contest, and afterwards, HLN in Belgium gave the Forest custodian a 5/10 for his latest performance that saw him ship three goals.
They wrote: “Kept the connecting goal off target twice with an excellent save just after the 2-0. Made the penalty foul that brought Wales to 3-1. No chance with the connecting goal and the 3-3. Disappointing evening.”

Sels vital to Nottingham Forest fortunes
There is absolutely no need for Forest to head out and sign a new goalkeeper anytime soon.
Carlos Miguel is probably considered an adequate backup to Sels, and right now, it’s not a priority for Forest to get another stopper.
Sels has revived himself at Forest and although he perhaps wasn’t at his very best last night, it’s a long season and a rest is now needed for the Belgian.
With the World Cup on the horizon, Sels will want to keep playing well and that can only bode well for Forest going into next season.
