Thomas Frank is unlikely to raid Brentford this summer as he prepares to take the job at Tottenham, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (9 June) that Frank’s £10million release clause will not be a major sticking point for Tottenham as they intensify plans to finalise the deal.

The 51-year-old is in advanced negotiations to join Spurs, who are stepping up their efforts to appoint the Brentford boss after sacking Ange Postecoglou.

Frank admires several Brentford stars, including in-demand duo Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbuemo, after crafting the side over his seven years in charge – but is unlikely to raid his former side in this window.

Frank has ‘no immediate plans’ to launch Brentford raid

Sources say he has “no immediate plans” to sign any of his Bees side – while the west London club could even look to prevent any approaches with assurances, should Spurs seek to haggle over Frank’s £10million buyout figure.

Bryan Mbeumo has been linked with Tottenham but is widely expected to join Man United after making his preference clear in recent days.

Nathan Collins, Kevin Schade and Yoane Wissa are among the other top performers at Brentford.

The Bees finished 10th in the 2024-25 campaign – seven places and 18 points above Tottenham, who will nevertheless play Champions League football next term.

Frank has overseen 152 Premier League games with the west London side – winning 54 and racking up 200 points over four seasons.

Brentford set sights on Frank replacement

Meanwhile at Brentford, Football Insider has revealed (7 June) they are readying a formal move for Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna.

McKenna is rated highly by Brentford’s recruitment team, and they believe he could be an ideal fit despite overseeing Ipswich‘s relegation to the Championship.

He is under contract at Portman Road until June 2028 after penning a new four-year deal last summer.
