Stefon Diggs may still have a ways to go to prove he is an ideal locker-room presence for the New England Patriots after some controversial offseason activities.
But one Drake Maye, the team's franchise quarterback, does not need much convincing when it comes to the two-time All-Pro receiver.
"He [Diggs] seems like an awesome teammate", Maye said to reporters on Monday at the start of mandatory minicamp, "He's my locker mate...we talk all the time, he's a veteran in this league. He's made a lot of plays, played in a lot of big time games.
So just an awesome voice for the receiver room for this offense. He's played some playoff games, he's had some big games. And I think once he recovers [from his ACL tear in October], and he's getting back out there, looking forward to throwing him some footballs."

This reaction to Diggs is not out of the ordinary. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported back in March that the former Bill and Texan's former teammates and coaching staff loved him during his time with both organizations.
And, more importantly, the way Maye feels about his incoming, presumed WR1 sets the tone for the season. A bad relationship between the pair would certainly not bode well for anyone given the importance both will likely have on the Patriots' success in 2025 - and perhaps beyond.
Diggs is by no means the perfect package, but if he can form a great relationship with New England's QB on and off the field, he will be well worth his 3 year, $63 million deal signed in March.
