Liverpool player leaks Reds transfer promise to club – Situation can ‘get complicated’

Last week, claims from Spain stated Barcelona are unfazed by Liverpool’s decision to reject their nitial approach for Luis Díaz.

The Colombia international is on the front page of today’s [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/), with ‘all in for Luis Díaz’ written in bold.

Barcelona, ‘no matter what’, want to sign the Liverpool star to improve their attack.

Despite Liverpool’s refusal, the Catalan club are confident their stance will change as they believe the Reds will need money to sign all their targets this summer.

Hansi Flick’s side are grateful to the 28-year-old for publicly stating that he’s in talks with other clubs.

Barcelona’s ‘total bet’ is on the former FC Porto man and Mundo say the question remains about the fee needed to take him away from Anfield.

[Sport](https://www.sport.es/) also cover this case and their title says ‘The promise that brings Luis Díaz closer’ to the Camp Nou.

Díaz’s ability to operate on the left wing and at No.9, his goalscoring ability and defensive commitment makes him an ideal target for Barcelona. They have been working on this operation for several months.

His contract lasts until 2027 and he’ll only leave Liverpool to join the Blaugrana. The attacker is putting pressure on Arne Slot’s side to let him go.

Sport say ‘a chess game is just beginning’, days after the Reds stated Díaz is not for sale.

Barca, however, are ‘clinging on’ to the promise made by Liverpool to let him leave if they were to receive an €80m bid.

The newspaper claims the player has ‘slipped this verbal pact’ to Barcelona so that they can sign him quickly. The La Liga giants have found out the Merseyside club aren’t willing to offer discounts.

He’s given his green light to Barcelona, who have to meet the demand set by Liverpool to sign him. The Camp Nou club have other plans.

Barca are unwilling to pay €80m for a player who will turn 29 in January and has two years left on his contract.

Sport state: _‘This difference in rhetoric is delaying the negotiations, but Joan Laporta is in no hurry because he knows that if the player remains firm, the signing will fall like ripe fruit._

_‘Either the promise they made to Luis Díaz at the time is fulfilled or things are going to get complicated.’_

Unless Liverpool lower the price or Barcelona meet their demand, this saga is likely to get more complicated.
