Journalist Claims Arsenal Are About To Submit "Formal" Proposal To 70 Cap Winger Who Loves Working With Arteta

Arsenal are expected to table a “formal offer” to Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, according to journalist Sami Yen Haber.

The German, who has been capped 70 times, will be out of contract in a few weeks but, up until now, it was expected that he would either remain with the Bundesliga champions, join a Saudi Pro League club or move to Turkey.

It is believed that Sane has already received proposals from both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in view to joining them on a free transfer at the start of next month.

However, Yen Haber seems to be suggesting that the Gunners are about to enter the mix to secure his services this summer.

Sane has expressed his admiration for Arteta

The forward worked with manager Mikel Arteta during their time together at Manchester City. Speaking back in 2020, not long after Arteta’s appointment at the Emirates, Sane said:

“I can just say positive things about Mikel Arteta. Since we started working together, he has helped me a lot on the pitch. He tried to improve my football, he told me what I did good and what I did wrong, and he tried to work on it. Next to Pep, they both really helped me and improved me, to bring me to the next level.”

“Even now, at Arsenal, for me, you can see he’s doing a great job. You can see he has a concept, a way that he wants to play, a way that he wants his team to play.”

Arsenal have looked at several wingers

Sane is by no means the only target being considered to strengthen the flanks. Sporting director Andrea Berta has spoken with the representatives of Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, while the likes of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo have also been linked.

As he is available on a free transfer, Sane would certainly be the most economical solution but, at 29 years of age, he isn’t really someone for the long term.

In other news, it has been reported that Arsenal are targeting an £84m rated Turkish forward
