Championship club announce ‘fantastic’ Everton target is now set to leave for absolutely nothing

Everton will now need to take action in the transfer window with time to dwell over the next few weeks.

This is due to the transfer window closing for a brief period on Tuesday evening at 7pm.

The summer window comes to a standstill due to the forthcoming FIFA Club World Cup taking place.

Although there haven’t been any offers made from Everton’s side of things, targets are being weighed up as Jack Grealish has a 35% chance of joining.

Well now, one target could have a 100% chance as the player is now available for free.

Everton target Kyle Walker-Peters set to leave for absolutely nothing

A new right-back is certainly in David Moyes’ plans this window, with the position being made a ‘priority’ for Everton.

This is due to Ashley Young leaving, Seamus Coleman remaining but likely only in a coaching role, and Moyes not the biggest fan of Nathan Patterson.

With this prospect considered, it’s now the perfect opportunity for Moyes to go for Everton target Kyle Walker-Peters.

The reason is that Southampton have released their new retained list (Premier League website) for their season in the Championship, and Walker-Peters doesn’t appear, indicating his time is over.

Walker-Peters has been dubbed ‘fantastic’ by Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards previously, and appeared as a promising player in a dismal Saints squad, pointing to every reason why Moyes needs to sanction a deal.

Why Everton need to secure Walker-Peters deal this summer

There is clearly now an emergence to sign a right-back this summer, with limited options available to Moyes.

As mentioned, Patterson hasn’t hit the ground running under the Scotsman, and it’s looking unlikely he’ll be able to continue being a starter.

Although Jake O’Brien was a revelation in the unfamiliar position of full-back, Moyes sees O’Brien in the centre long-term.

This means a contract has to be penned up for Walker-Peters, who actually did well considering the circumstances at Southampton.

With Everton having a £100m budget, to land a free transfer for one of their ‘priority’ positions would be excellent business from The Friedkin Group, and at 28, the former Tottenham right-back is in his prime years.
