Jack Grealish looks set to leave Manchester City this summer after being frozen out by Pep Guardiola.

The England international started in 16 of his 32 appearances in the latest campaign, where he registered three goals and five assists.

However, the 29-year-old played just one minute in the last six Premier League games of the season and is expected to be left out of the squad for the upcoming Club World Cup.

Football Insider revealed on 22 May Grealish expects to leave Man City this summer after falling down the pecking order at the Etihad.

Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Grealish, having sold their former academy product to Guardiola’s side for £100million in 2021.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the club could face an “embarrassing” situation if the winger goes back to Villa and performs well.

Everton are also in the mix to sign Grealish, but his £300,000-a-week wages are believed to be a stumbling block in any potential exit.

Jack Grealish could agree US move

Borson insisted a move to the US could be the best option for Grealish this summer.

He told Football Insider: “The question is, do Villa want him?

“He’s not really done anything for two years. I think you could see Grealish doing well at LA Galaxy or something.

“If I were him, I’d find a way to go to America and get City to just heavily subsidise the deal. That feels like the right move for him.

“But I suspect he doesn’t want to go to America quite yet and he probably fancies going back to Villa.

“I just find it very hard to believe that City would heavily subsidise a move back to a club who is effectively in competition with them, and it would be embarrassing if it works.

“If you loan him to Villa and it’s a massive success and they did really well next season, City can look really stupid, especially if they paid most of the money.

“It’s a kind of Rashford situation again. I guess it didn’t really backfire on United particularly, but then it hasn’t really worked either.

“If he doesn’t sign for Villa and it doesn’t look like he’s going to, then it’s not really fixed the problem.”

Jack Grealish the first of two stars to leave Man City

Football Insider revealed on 30 May Grealish and James McAtee are expected to leave Man City as part of a summer clear-out.

Guardiola has made it clear several players will leave the Etihad as he looks to revamp his squad.

The Club World Cup is also set to provide a well-timed financial boost ahead of an important summer for the Manchester giants.

They are set to face Moroccan side Wydad AC in their first game of the 32-team competition in the US on 18 June.
