'The deal will get done'... Man Utd backed to complete forward deal regardless of early transfer deadline

There is an early deadline to be aware of, with a first-ever transfer window split taking place.

This summer Manchester United secured the earliest deal the club have agreed since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, with the move for Matheus Cunha.

This was a statement of intent from United, but there may have been another reason for the speedy activity.

There is an early transfer deadline, with the window split into two for a brief pause.

Early transfer window deadline explained: FIFA’s new rule

FIFA have placed a hiatus on transfer activity due to the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, which involves Chelsea and Manchester City.

This is because clubs involved need to register their squads ahead of the tournament kicking off on Sunday June 15, and it sets a cut-off, to prevent players joining up at the last minute.

All clubs around the world are impacted – but there is good news, the window is only closed for one week.

How early transfer deadline impacts Manchester United transfers

Manchester United have already wrapped up one deal, landing Matheus Cunha. Negotiations are ongoing to agree a deal with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey tells United In Focus that the early deadline has benefitted Manchester United: “They are delighted with how things have gone and they have been able to use the open window to help them.

“I am told United have moved early on purpose – as they think they have caught other sides off guard to a certain extent and it has worked in some regards. It put them in a strong position with Cunha and also Mbeumo – one reason he has agreed to them was early work.”

Ideally, United could get a deal agreed with Brentford before the 7pm deadline. Talks can still obviously take place next week, but nothing can be formalised.

If the uncertainty is extended, it could buy more time for other clubs, but United are confident a deal will be completed.

United’s other interest extends to striker Viktor Gyokeres, and there is also the complex business of player sales. But it is likely all of these will have to wait until after the early deadline.

Bailey adds: “The closing of the window, does not impact on United as such and they will continue to try and get Mbeumo done this week, which they are hopeful of doing.

“Obviously Brentford losing Thomas Frank has delayed things a little but the deal will get done.

“The one way they were impacted was the interest from Al-Hilal in Bruno Fernandes and to that regard it helped them as Al-Hilal had to give up quickly.”

Club captain Bruno Fernandes turned down a move to Al-Hilal, committing his future for next season to Manchester United, despite being offered a lucrative pay rise.
