An Italian journalist has shared a shocking Lloyd Kelly update just days after he completed a permanent transfer from Newcastle United to Serie A side Juventus.
It is a deal from which the Magpies have benefited tremendously. After signing him on a free transfer in 2024, Lloyd Kelly joined Juventus on loan during the 2025 January transfer window and has now completed a permanent move to the Old Lady for a fee reportedly in the region of £20m.
Last summer saw Newcastle United struggle to comply with PSR, but deals like that mean Eddie Howe has little to worry about when it comes to spending in the transfer market.
Kelly struggled while on loan at Juventus, being slated by Italian media for his efforts and looking shaky throughout. The 26-year-old finally found his feet towards the end of the season, but then an injury caused it to be derailed once again.
Kelly joining Juventus looked inevitable, with the Serie A giants needing to qualify for Europe to confirm a permanent move. However, very few could have predicted what Juventus are now prepared to do with the Englishman just a few days after signing.

Lloyd Kelly set to be placed on the transfer list after completing Juventus move
Although he has completed a permanent move, Kelly has not had it easy in Italy.
Kelly was called “embarrassing” by Italian media, with his ability on the ball severely put into question. Despite the constant comments from the press, Kelly has pushed on and helped Juventus secure European football and his permanent move to the club.
However, it has now been reported by Italian journalist Giovanni Albanese that Juventus are ready to put Kelly on the transfer market. Albanese adds that Kelly has not convinced new manager Igor Tudor that he deserves to stay at the club, and they are now considering his exit.

It is a bitter blow for Kelly, who will no doubt want to settle at a new club for more than six months. However, the writing looks to be on the wall for him, and his departure from Juventus looks like it will happen this summer.
Newcastle fans praised Paul Mitchell for negotiating Kelly’s sale, but they should be even more pleased with him after they learn the hidden clause in the deal.
Newcastle United will benefit from Lloyd Kelly leaving Juventus
Despite Howe being a big fan of his, Kelly took a pay cut to leave Newcastle in a desperate attempt for more minutes. Kelly only made 10 league appearances with the Magpies, the majority of which were as a substitute.
It was clear from the start that Howe preferred playing the likes of Dan Burn and Fabian Schar at centre-back over Kelly, so he was always going to struggle to break into the starting XI.
With the permanent move already confirmed, Newcastle will bag a generous fee for Kelly. However, they will rake in more money if Juventus decide to sell this summer.
Newcastle inserted a sell-on clause in the Juventus deal for Kelly, meaning they would receive a portion of whatever Juventus make from selling him. There has been no word on what percentage of the deal they would get, but they will still benefit from any deal, no matter the fee.
