Exclusive: Man United have just been offered chance to sign Barcelona star who Xavi called 'a perfectionist'

TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Manchester United are among several Premier League clubs who have been offered a chance to sign Marc-Andre ter Stegen from Barcelona.

The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha, and work is going on to secure the services of Bryan Mbeumo as well.

Ruben Amorim still has a lot of work to do, and one of the areas where they need strengthening is in goal.

TBR Football revealed that Manchester United are open to selling Andre Onana this summer. They will need a replacement if they get rid of him.

Manchester United and four English clubs have been offered a chance to sign Marc-Andre ter Stegen

TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, understands that Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been offered to a number of Premier League clubs after Barcelona told him they were ready to move on from him.

The German international still has three years left on his contract at the Nou Camp, but the Spanish club have snapped up highly-rated Joan Garcia from neighbours Espanyol – who they beat a host of English clubs to.

Now, sources have confirmed to TBR that several Premier League clubs have been approached in the last week about the prospect of landing Ter Stegen.

The goalkeeper ideally does not want to leave, but his representatives are doing work on options. The Saudi Pro League are keen, whilst Galatasaray are also interested, with their legendary number one Fernando Muslera retiring.

TBR can confirm that checks have also been made on the options that could be available in England.

We can tell you that Manchester United have been offered Ter Stegen, while Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Aston Villa – all of whom are considering goalkeeper changes this summer – have been approached about the 33-year-old German.

However, as it stands, we are told that no English club has yet held talks about a possible deal for Ter Stegen, even though they are aware of his potential availability.

What Xavi once said about Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Ter Stegen became Barcelona’s undisputed first-choice after Manchester City signed Claudio Bravo in 2016.

The German played consistently when he was fit and has made over 420 appearances for the Spanish giants over the years.

When Xavi Hernandez was the manager, he loved Ter Stegen and even branded him as ‘the best goalkeeper in the world’.

Xavi said in April 2023, as per The Daily Mail: “For me, it was an advantage to know Marc. As a manager, it was an advantage, I know how he thinks, his personality, he is very methodical, he’s a perfectionist.

“He has worked a lot, and he was aware that he had to improve too. Right now, he is at an extraordinary level. I would say that, right now, he is the best goalkeeper in the world.

“Even more so for us what we in terms of play. With the ball to feet in goal, he is perfect for us. Having Marc in goal makes me calm.”
