Player’s agents suspected of trying to hype Everton interest – No offer yet, attempting to encourage one

Thierno Barry’s agent may be pushing Everton’s apparent interest to hype up his client, with the Blues yet to make any offer for him.

That’s [according to El Periódico Mediterráneo](https://www.elperiodicomediterraneo.com/), Villarreal’s local newspaper, who report that Everton’s apparent interest in the 22-year-old may not be quite at the levels which have been presented.

The newspaper explains that despite reports of interest in various players, Villarreal are yet to receive any serious offers for their star men.

This has been the case with Álex Baena, despite ‘ridiculous proposals’ being suggested in the media, and it is the same for Barry.

The Spanish side have received interest from Premier League clubs, ‘especially Everton’, but these are merely ‘sounding outs’. All the transfer noise is largely coming from the player’s entourage.

They want to secure a first offer for their client, but the reality is that he has a €40m release clause. Whoever wants to buy him this summer will have to pay that amount, according to the local media. None of the interested parties, including Everton, have moved to do that.

That means Villarreal aren’t panicking or taking the reports around the striker at anything but face value. They have him in their squad for next season and have no need to sell, nor are they in a hurry to do so either.
