French international Adrien Rabiot has shared the real reason behind snubbing a move to Manchester United.
Adrien Rabiot Explains Why He Snubbed Man Utd
Adrien Rabiot has finally revealed why he rejected offers from Manchester United. Speaking to The Athletic, he said the club’s situation at the time made him think twice.
The 30-year-old midfielder admitted that he got multiple offers from the Red Devils. But, he wasn’t convinced by their direction. He was referring to the instability and inconsistent performances at Old Trafford. Despite strong links in 2023, when his Juventus contract was expiring, he instead chose to extend his stay in Italy. He eventually made 35 appearances and helped Juve lift the Coppa Italia.
The Red Devils came back again a year later with hopes of signing Rabiot on a free transfer. But, he opted to return to France, signing with Marseille. That move turned out to be a win for both player and club. With nine goals and four assists, he played a huge role in Marseille’s second-place finish behind PSG. That also includes securing Champions League football. And he earned the club’s Player of the Season award too.
New Chapter Alongside Greenwood
Adrien is settling into life at Marseille at the moment. He shares the dressing room with former Man Utd forward Mason Greenwood. Mason has become a key part of the Marseille setup. His current deal runs until 2029. Few Premier League clubs are said to be keeping tabs on him.
Meanwhile, Rabiot has just one year left on his contract with the French giants. Even though he’s only been at the club for a short time, his impact has been massive. It’s clear he has no regrets about choosing the French side over Manchester.
For now, both Rabiot and Marseille are reaping the rewards of that decision.
