“No idea” – Player happy at Brighton but sitting on transfer fence

Yasin Ayari left AIK Fotboll for Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023 and had to wait until this season to cement his place at The Amex. The midfielder played 39 games for the Seagulls and his situation improved after Fabian Hürzeler’s arrival last summer.

On April 25th, Fotboll Direkt reported the 21-year-old can be a hot candidate this summer as several clubs are signalling their intention to table bids. They also stated Brighton will demand SEK 400m [€36.6m] to sanction his sale.

Ayari is part of the Sweden squad for this month’s fixtures, and this gave Fotbollskanalen an opportunity to have a chat with him. The interview is on his stay with the Premier League club and plans for his future.

The Sweden international has a contract until 2027 and says he feels “great” at Brighton. Despite this, Ayari is unsure whether he’ll be at the club beyond the summer window.

“Right now, I feel happy where I am. But you never know in the future. I always want to play in the best clubs and fight for the biggest trophies. We’ll see what happens,” he said.

When asked if he’s aware of any interest from other clubs, Ayari explained. “I don’t know anything right now. My focus is where I am right now. I don’t like that. The agents will take care of that. I focus on mine.”

Fotbollskanalen pressed further whether Ayari will stay at Brighton, and he added: “My gut feeling says no idea.”

The Swede was asked what he wants for himself and whether his agent has signalled any interest from elsewhere.

“You always want to challenge yourself. But I am safe where I am now and then we will see what happens,” the Brighton player said.

“As I said: I am safe where I am. I have done well, I feel good in the position I am in. But you never know what will happen.”
