'Priority is to stay': Blow for Ruben Amorim as £34m player now suggests he has no interest in Man Utd move, despite…

Manchester United have done well in the transfer market so far this summer, despite having no European football to offer targets.

The Red Devils have successfully taken Matheus Cunha from Wolves after his fantastic 2024/25 campaign, in which he scored 15 Premier League goals.

Manchester United have also tempted Bryan Mbeumo into joining – with discussions over a fee ongoing between the Red Devils and Brentford – after he went five better, netting 20 Premier League goals last term.

Despite this impressive start to the transfer window, it seems an ambitious move for Gianluigi Donnarumma will be one step too far for Manchester United after his latest comments.

Gianluigi Donnarumma commits himself to PSG publicly

L’Equipe claimed last week that Manchester United had made an approach to express their interest in the Italy international – after Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir both failed to impress last season – amidst stuttering contract talks between the glovesman and PSG.

PSG even approached Lucas Chevalier of Lille – according to Le Parisien – a sign the European champions might have been preparing to sell Donnarumma, who is currently valued at €40m (£34m) due to the fact he only has 12 months left on his deal.

Now, however, the PSG No.1 has committed himself to the Parisians, telling Sky Italia (via L’Equipe): “My priority is to stay at PSG, I don’t think there will be any problems in the negotiations. We’re a great team.”

Donnarumma enjoyed a superb 2024/25 campaign, helping PSG win the treble as he kept 12 clean sheets in 40 appearances, and made a string of outstanding saves.

Manchester United have already been offered an alternative

TBR Football understand Manchester United have now been offered the chance to sign Marc-Andre ter Stegen this summer as Amorim targets a new goalkeeper.

Barcelona are about to sign Joan Garcia from Espanyol – who is widely considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in Spain – providing the Germany international with a real threat for his place in between the sticks.

We understand Manchester United are yet to make an approach, but those at Old Trafford are certainly aware of the fact Ter Stegen is available this summer.
