Manchester United are desperate to sign a new, quality goalkeeper this summer, with Gianluigi Donnarumma giving hope of new signing in the coming months.

United’s are in need of an upgrade between the sticks since Andre Onana has failed to establish himself as a reliable option for Ruben Amorim.

The Cameroon international has had some absolute howlers this season, costing the Red Devils some simple goals, being just one of the factors of United’s poor results.

Now, United’s recruitment team are looking across the English Channel to France, with two key goalkeepers in mind.

Firstly is PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, and secondly is LOSC Lille’s Lucas Chevalier.

It’s understood that both Manchester United and Manchester City are looking to the pair as long-term replacements to Onana and Ederson respectively.

However, a new update from Fabrizio Romano may have handed United a boost in their pursuit of one of the Ligue 1 shot-stoppers.

Taking to X, Romano has posted recent comments from Donnarumma regarding his future at PSG.

It’s been reported that his future has come into question as the Italian keeper and the French club have failed to renegotiate a contract, with the talks now breaking down.

As such, the French champions have been looking to Lucas Chevalier, leading the race to sign the talented young goalkeeper.

However, Donnarumma has commented: “My priority is to stay at Paris Saint-Germain and sign new deal. I don’t think there will be any issue or problem”

This not only gives hope to PSG fans of keeping their star keeper, but also potentially takes PSG out of the race for Chevalier, eliminating one of United’s main threats to signing him this summer.
