Newcastle United are trying to agree a deal for James Trafford to come to St James’ Park, according to Sky Sports.
United have long been linked with the young (now 22 year old) goalkeeper.
Sky Sports News have now reported on deadline day (of this first summer transfer window) that Newcastle United are in talks with Burnley to try and agree a transfer fee for James Trafford.
The broadcaster saying negotiations are taking place on the transfer fee with Burnley understood to be wanting £30m.
Burnley paid £15m for James Trafford in 2023 which with add-ons, meant Manchester City could eventually net £19m if certain targets were met.
Sky Sports News report that their information is that Eddie Howe wants to bring James Trafford to compete with Nick Pope, rather than the former Burnley keeper to leave St James’ Park.
James Trafford started 45 of the 46 Championship matches last season, as Burnley were promoted having conceded only 16 goals the entire league season.
