Arne Slot was told he was a “hero” as he returned to Ibiza. The Liverpool head coach has already won the affection of supporters for winning the Premier League title in his first season at Anfield.
The Reds clinched their twentieth league title with a 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the end of April. After this, the manager took the opportunity to head to the Balearic Island of Ibiza.
In various social media posts, the Dutchman can be seen being welcomed onto the Ocean Beach stage with Queen's 'We Are the Champions' playing, while a group of women hold up cards that read 'Champions.'
Wayne Lineker, the club's owner, also posted a picture of himself with Slot on Instagram, with the caption reading: “Caption this #YWNA” accompanied by a heart and clap emoji. He also posted a video of the Liverpool boss making his way to the DJ booth, with the caption: “No words. What a day.”
Slot returned to Spain last week. Yesterday, Liverpool fan Chris Williams shared a picture of Slot on X/Twitter with fellow Dutchman Armin van Buuren. The DJ and producer has won a number of accolades and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for his single "This Is What It Feels Like" featuring Trevor Guthrie.
Amin started his summer residency on the island with a six hour set at beachside venue Ushuaïa Ibiza from 5pm to 11pm on Sunday June 8.
Chris shared a picture of a smiling Slot in a picture with Armin and said: “Arne Slot last night at Armin van Buuren’s six hour Ushuaïa set.”
Liverpool fans were delighted and amused to see the manager enjoying himself. One said: “This man loves partying, so it's only right he brings us our 21st Premier League and number seventh Champions League. Then we'll party the whole summer.”
Another commented: “He hasn’t stopped partying hahahaha.” A third said: “The gaffer loves EDM (electronic dance music), my hero.” A fourth joked: “Get this lad in some 110s, he literally is a Scouser anyway at this point.”
A picture was also shared on Facebook of Slot in Ibiza with a fan who said: “What a night.”
Armin’s will run across nine dates, with shows every Sunday from 8th June 8 until 6th July, and then from 7th September until 28th September. After the opening party, van Buuren will be joined each week by guests, including Marlon Hoffstadt, Oliver Heldens, Cosmic Gate and Vini Vici.
Speaking to the ECHO last month about his encounter with Slot, Wayne said: “It was amazing for me because I got 3m views out of it. It was pure gold, amazing. He is a very, very nice man.
“He was very embarrassed about it all, but I had planned for him. He had zero chance of out-drinking me, though. He may be champion of the league, but I am the champion of Ibiza.”
Liverpool will travel to Asia for their pre-season tour. The Premier League campaign will start again in August.
