Sheffield United may need to step up their efforts to sign Jonjoe Kenny, with their failure to return to the Premier League an issue.
That’s [according to BILD](https://www.bild.de/), who report that while Sheffield United are believed to be interested in the 28-year-old, they may have a difficult task in convincing him of the move.
The newspaper explains that the suitors are lining up for Kenny this summer as he’s leaving Hertha Berlin on a free transfer. The former Everton man has admirers after a season in which he managed one goal and eight assists in 32 games in the German second division.
The problem for Sheffield United is that they have a ‘weaker hand’ than the other teams in the poker game as they failed to secure promotion to the Premier League.
That would put them behind the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach and FSV Mainz, who can both offer Bundesliga football to the former Everton man.
Sheffield United will be spending their season in the Championship after losing to Sunderland in the play-off final.
Whether that’s enough to rule them out remains to be seen but it’s already being seen as a problem in this potential pursuit. Indeed, it was reported at the end of May that a move was unlikely because of it.
BILD now back that up and suggest the Blades are entering any poker for Kenny’s signature with a weaker hand than other suitors.
