Tottenham are set to step up their pursuit of Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo in the coming weeks, according to their former scout.
Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that the 25-year-old has emerged as a top target for the North London club.
Man United had been interested in a deal for Semenyo, but their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo has left the door open for Spurs to make a move.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that United would sign one of Mbeumo or Semenyo after holding preliminary talks with both Brentford and Bournemouth.
With their sights now firmly set on Mbeumo, Tottenham have been given a clear run at the Ghana international amid a growing belief they can reach an agreement.
Spurs have been keeping a close eye on his performances this season, after Football Insider revealed in October that Tottenham, Newcastle and Arsenal want to sign Semenyo.

Tottenham prepare to swoop ahead of Man United for Semenyo
Brown told Football Insider in October that Tottenham have joined the race for Semenyo alongside the likes of Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Spurs want to get the deal wrapped up as soon as possible.
“*Man United are pushing towards signing Mbeumo,*” he told Football Insider.
“They’ve been looking at both him and Semenyo, because they’re similar sorts of players, but I hear it’s unlikely that they’ll sign them both.
“Semenyo has had a very good season at Bournemouth and a lot of clubs have taken note of that.
“Tottenham are certainly among them, and they’ve been very impressed by what they’ve seen.
“He’s built a justified reputation for himself and now I think he’s ready for the step up.
“With Man United focusing elsewhere, Tottenham will be given the chance to make a move with a free run at him, and I expect they’ll want to take that chance.
“If they can wrap it up quickly, it will be far easier than getting involved in a bidding war.”

Son Heung-min update emerges after Thomas Frank arrival
Amid speculation about Spurs’ ambitions to bring in new players this summer, there has been plenty of talks about the future for Son Heung-min.
Football Insider revealed on 10 June that Tottenham could accept “very lucrative” offers for Son regardless of the new manager’s plans.
Thomas Frank looks set to arrive as the permanent successor to Ange Postecoglou, but may not have any say in the future of the current club captain.
However, Football Insider revealed last month that Tottenham are planning to keep Son at the club beyond the summer window.
