Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho celebrates Chelsea's Conference League victory
Manchester United know that their summer business is restricted until they complete sales.
The Reds' lack of Champions League football next season has ensured that there is a limit to how the club can spend their money. Matheus Cunha's arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers and the likely arrival of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford do not need sales to be sanctioned.
Beyond that, United are struggling. A centre-forward is a clear priority particularly with the lack of goals in the squad's strikers this season and for a player of note, United will need to spend around the £60m figure.
The only way that further business will be completed is if sales are completed and some of these deals will be easier to complete than others. One which appears on the surface to be tough is Jadon Sancho.
United suffered their nightmare scenario this month when Chelsea were unable to agree personal terms with Sancho and the winger returned to Old Trafford. While the Blues did pay United a £5m penalty fee for his services, the Reds are still left with a task of needing to sell a player on a high wage who also did not pull up trees in the Premier League this season.
However, there is a chance that United may be able to pull off a dream scenario which could turn the Chelsea nightmare on its head. According to The Athletic and Sky Sports, Borussia Dortmund are once again showing an interest in Sancho after he became available.
For United, this is ideal as the Reds have dealt with the Bundesliga club on multiple occasions and will feel that they can strike a deal quickly with them. What's more, they would not need to convince Sancho about the merits of moving to Dortmund - it is well known he is a big fan of the club.
The only potential sticking point is over his wage and Sancho would need to show some leniancy to keep the deal alive. But United are staring at the real possibility of receiving the £25m that Chelsea were contracted to pay, from Dortmund, and an extra £5m for their troubles.
Truly, this could be a dream scenario for United.
