Chelsea are gearing up for a busy transfer window as they look to strengthen Enzo Maresca's squad for the Club World Cup as well as their return to the Champions League. Having already secured their first signing of the summer in Liam Delap, the Blues are expected to bring in several more fresh faces in the coming weeks and months.
To accommodate the new arrivals, Chelsea will need to part ways with some current players. As a result, a number of underperforming squad members are expected to bid farewell to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have officially released their full list of retained players ahead of the upcoming season. And the departure of a few players has been made official.
They are set to leave as free agents. Among them are three goalkeepers, Lucas Bergstrom, Eddie Beach and Luke Campbell, as well as left-back Dylan Williams.
Chelsea announce four players are leaving this summer
Bergstrom served as the team's second-choice goalkeeper throughout their UEFA Conference League campaign and was even on the bench in the final, which ended with Chelsea lifting the trophy. But at 22 years of age, it was pretty clear that he did not have much of a future at Stamford Bridge.
As for the other two goalkeepers, Beach spent the first half of last season on loan at Crawley Town before returning in January. Signed from Southampton in 2022, he failed to make a senior appearance for the first-team.
Campbell also spent the first half of the season out on loan, joining Hendon. He was a regular for Chelsea’s Under-18 side and was part of the squad that won the Premier League South title in 2023/24.
Williams has joined Burton Albion after a successful loan spell in which he made 26 appearances. The youngster showed promise on some instances, but was unable to break into the first-team unfortunately.
