Chelsea walk away from deal to sign goalkeeper Maignan

Chelsea have walked away from a potential deal to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The Blues were offered the France international and they valued him at between €10m (£8.46m) and €15m (£12.7m).

Chelsea never made an official bid for the 29-year-old and they refused to consider paying more than their valuation for a player who has just one year left on his AC Milan contract.

Chelsea are now unlikely to sign a goalkeeper this summer.

It was not a position they were looking at recruiting at this time until they were offered Maignan.

Meanwhile, it is unlikely Chelsea will sign Jamie Gittens on Tuesday from Borussia Dortmund as they have been unable to agree a deal, with time running out in the first transfer window of the summer.

The deal can be revisited later this summer.
