On Tottenham legend Jan Vertonghen's farewell, Belgium edged a seven-goal thriller after a Fulham star almost single-handedly got Wales back onto its feet.

Wales, managed by ex-West Ham star Craig Bellamy, suffered a poor start to the game and were already 3-0 down with less than half-an-hour played.

Flamboyant Premier League trio, past and present, Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans and Jeremy Doku looked to have put the visitors to the sword.

But Harry Wilson spearheaded Wales's comeback. He netted a morale-boosting penalty just before half-time to give his side renewed hope.

Six minutes after the restart he then set up Sorba Thomas after slipping the Huddersfield man into the danger area with a terrific crossfield delivery.

And the lid seemed to have come off completely for Rudi Garcia's Belgium when the Cottager created the opening for Tottenham Hotspur's Bilbao hero Brennan Johnson via a far-post centre for Thomas who then headed back across the face of goal.

Yet it wasn't to be and just when the two countries looked to have settled for a point in this cracker, Napoli-to-be superstar De Bruyne finished Koni de Winter's delivery with a flourish with two minutes left at the far stick. Thanks to this momentous victory Belgium now have their fate back in their own hands.

But most headlines today will all be about Wilson after his devastating five-star display.

He looked like a million dollar in yesterday's World Cup 2026 qualifier and his ferociously energetic and intense display will undoubtedly be talked about for years to come.

And this time it wasn't even Brentford he was up against....
