The deal between AC Milan and Chelsea for Mike Maignan is officially off, according to the latest from Fabrizio Romano.
There has been a tug-of-war developing between the Milan and Chelsea management over Maignan, who wants to depart the club after four years and has a contract expiring in just over 12 months.
It seems that the Rossoneri were willing to part with the Frenchman but only on their terms, demanding a figure around €25m in order for the departure to be sanctioned before the Club World Cup.
Maignan to Chelsea collapses
The new update from Fabrizio Romano reads as follows: “Maignan deal now OFF between Chelsea and AC Milan. Chelsea not willing to meet Milan’s price, deal not proceeding in time for Club World Cup as Chelsea won’t pay ‘CWC tax’.
