Aston Villa’s Álex Moreno is a ‘hot option’ for Real Betis to improve their left-back position this summer, according to Tuesday’s edition of Diario de Sevilla.
Earlier today, Fichajes reported Real Betis, Real Sociedad, Sunderland and Burnley are in a four-way battle to sign the 32-year-old. They also said Aston Villa value him at €6m.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side have an advantage as Diario de Sevilla report the defender wants to join them.
He spent over three years with the Andalusian club before leaving them for Unai Emery’s side in January 2023.
Moreno performed well under the former West Ham United manager at Real Betis. The newspaper states his entourage wants him to return to his former club and Pellegrini is also in favour of his arrival.
The Spaniard struggled during his loan spell this season at Nottingham Forest, who are unlikely to make his stay permanent. The fullback will have to return to Aston Villa, where he has a contract until 2026.
Diario de Sevilla points out Moreno’s current valuation is €7m, while Fichajes earlier said the Villans are looking to collect €6m.
Those close to the Aston Villa player have ‘long wanted [for him] to return’ to Real Betis, who are also keen on Leeds United’s Junior Firpo. His contract expires on June 30th, and this gives him an advantage over Moreno.
