Napoli star Victor Osimhen is reportedly "dreaming" of a move to Manchester United this summer.
The Nigerian striker, 26, was expected to leave Naples last summer when it became clear he was searching for a new challenge. However, despite last-minute approaches from Chelsea and from the Saudi Pro League, Osimhen remained in Italy - facing an uncertain future at that juncture.
Owing to their prolonged summer transfer window, Galatasaray managed to take advantage and signed Osimhen on a season-long loan deal. Taking the opportunity presented to him, the 26-year-old starred for the Istanbul team, scoring a whopping 37 goals across all competitions.
After celebrating Galatasaray's success, Osimhen has left Turkey and is now pursuing his next transfer deal. Al-Hilal, after being rejected by Bruno Fernandes, turned their attention to Osimhen and despite agreeing a £63m deal with Napoli - organising a medical and booking his flights - the centre-forward rejected the deal.
Gazzetta dello Sport understands that Osimhen is now "dreaming" of a proposed move to Old Trafford and United are now studying a way to get the deal done when the window reopens again on Monday, June 16. Napoli are wanting teams to meet their £63m release clause for Osimhen, and the Reds are looking at whether Joshua Zirkzee could be used as a makeweight.
Zirkzee joined United for £36.5m last summer and while he did improve as the season progressed, it has still been a struggle for the Dutchman in Manchester. Napoli were interested in Alejandro Garnacho during the January transfer window, but it is said that the Argentine is no longer on their list of potential signings.
That's despite Ruben Amorim being insistent that he can leave.
If United were able to snap-up Osimhen, it would be another problem position ticked off for the Reds ahead of the new season. Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres is still regarded as a top target by the club.
