Cleveland Browns News and Rumors 6/10: Navigating Through the Seven Stages

OBR Newswire Bloviation Header

Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!

I'm an idiot.

It's not as if long-time readers didn't already know this, but if you're new to this Massive Morning Missive, my name is Barry McBride, I'm the founder/publisher of the OBR, and I'm an idiot.

My idiocy is why the OBR Daily Newswire is a little late today. You see, I have a big problem in that I'm a technology guy who is insanely devoted to the most expensive tech products imaginable: Apple devices. Apple announced a new version of the Mac operating system, called Tahoe, which has all sorts of fancy "liquid glass" effects and other new features. It's in what's called "developer beta", which means you would have to be some sort of moron to put it on the device you use to do your daily work.

Now, of course, I couldn't wait to try it out, so I installed it on my MacBook. Cue me struggling with all kinds of understandable bugs while I try to do the Newswire.

Yes, I'm a nerd. And a dumb one.

The devastating blow to our days that is a Late Newswire is cushioned somewhat by the fact that there's precious little actual news to present today. Sure, there's a lot of florid wailing about Nick Chubb leaving, which ties to whichever of the seven stages of grief I was going through yesterday morning. Well, it took others in the media a little longer to reach that point, which resulted in some paeans to the recently departed running back.

The good news is that I've quickly navigated to the "acceptance" phase, so I'm not tearfully reading the articles that populate the newswire. A side effect of all the Nick Chubb grieving is that the media has taken its eye off the ball to the extent that there won't be a Daily Shedeur today. Of course, I could have come up with one, but that would have required me to do a lot of baitreggator links, so I held off.

GOODBYE NICK: Here are some of the articles posted on this subject from our local media and bloggers, if the OBR's extensive content on the subject wasn't enough for you.

OFFENSIVE LINE SWITCHAROO: One thing I've noted over time is that any bit of news unleashed on Browns fans results in worry about what the negative ramifications of that news might be. Such it is with the Browns' bottom-of-the-depth chart exchange of C Justin Osborne and OT Jackson Barton. The question, of course, is whether this is bad news about the state of the Browns' OT situation, or bad news about a sudden lack of depth at center. Either way, I'm sure it portends something horrible.

MINICAMP STARTS TODAY: We'll be there, of course, in the person of OBR beat writer Fred Greetham, who will have a full report after the practice and interviews. There are a number of previews of camp and "what to watch for" articles to enjoy:

Have a good one! GO BROWNS!
