Chelsea-linked Osimhen transfer latest amid 'private' feelings on Man Utd move

Victor Osimhen joining Chelsea in the summer transfer window looks unlikely following the latest update on his future.

The Nigeria international has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the last few years and the current trading period looked to be their best chance of coming together.

That is because the Blues were on the hunt for a new striker ahead of the 2025/26 season, while Osimhen is expected to depart Napoli for a much lower fee than two years ago after spending the last nine months on loan at Galatasaray.

Alongside Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal want to sign a new natural No.9 but it is actually the former that have announced an addition up top with Liam Delap joining for £30 million from Ipswich Town.

Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike are the others to have been linked to Premier League moves with the latter of particular interest to Chelsea.

Eintracht Frankfurt are demanding £84.4m (€100m) to sanction an exit however, while both Sesko and Gyokeres could be available for roughly £20m less. Osimhen is expected to cost a similar amount with Napoli is valuing him at £63.5m (€75m).

That was proven as the case when the new Serie A champions rejected Al-Hilal's first bid, worth £59.2m (€70m), for his services last week with Osimhen also turning down their lucrative contract offer.

If a similar proposal was presented to the 26-year-old from Manchester United though, it would likely be a very different answer.

According to Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, he is dreaming of a move to Old Trafford.

It has been noted in their report that Joshua Zirkzee could be offered in a deal and though Alejandro Garnacho is no longer a target, good relations between the two clubs exits with that certainly helped by Scott McTominay's switch last summer.

If that specific move does not work out, or Chelsea decide to look elsewhere, Galatasaray are keen to have him back on a permanent basis with Osimhen also likely to be open to that.

Speaking back in February, Osimhen said: "I don't know [about the future], to be honest. "A few months ago, nobody ever thought I would come to Galatasaray, despite how big of a club they are.

"I live for the moment. For what's going to happen in the summer, I don't know, but I want everyone to understand something "I really love this club so much.

"I love the fans, I love everyone associated with this club, from the president down to the coaching staff."
