Manchester United are open to selling Alejandro Garnacho for £70 million this summer amid interest from Aston Villa and other suitors, according to the Independent journalist Miguel Delaney.
The 20-year-old Red Devils star has been told to leave the club by head coach Ruben Amorim, and the Villans are willing to bring him to the Villa Park club, but they will face competition from the likes of Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen for his services.
Villa are playing in the Europa League next season after narrowly missing out on fifth place, but buying Garnacho would depend on whether they sell Morgan Rogers.
Man United failed to qualify for Europe, and the Argentine appears keen on joining a club playing continental football.
A reunion with former Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag at Leverkusen could also be on the cards, with Serie A champions Napoli also likely to tempt him as both clubs will playing in the Champions League next term.
However, it is believed Garnacho prefers to remain in the Premier League, which could give Chelsea a huge chance as they will be featuring in the elite European competition next season.
He has been one of the best youngsters in the world in recent seasons, but whether the Blues or Villa will be willing to pay £70m for him remains to be seen.
Selling him for anything close to that amount would be huge for Man United given their current financial state, and the fact that a sale will represent pure profit in the books will help boost their chances of remaining in line with the profit and sustainability rules of the English top-flight.
The likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho are also expected to be sold, which would give the Red Devils enough room to make quality recruitment this summer and bolster their attack for next season.
