According to multiple breaking news reports this afternoon, Chelsea have made an official offer to sign a new player today.
Fabrizio Romano did leave the door open for this to still happen with his report earlier on today, and it looks like it genuinely could still happen now.
Romano also dropped the bad news that the Mike Maignan to Chelsea deal is now OFF after a week of negotiations and Chelsea now failing to get that deal done.
Today is the day where the first summer transfer window closes after only being open from the start of June. But it’s not closed for long as it reopens again on June the 16th. This is just a chance for clubs to get deals done before the Club World Cup starts.

Time to do some deals
Chelsea have been busy trying to get deals done and doing various other bits of business in the last 10 days. One new signing, Mamadou Sarr, who was announced yesterday, has predictions over his head to become world class very soon.

Multiple reports are now claiming Chelsea have bid for Jamie Gittens of Dortmund this afternoon.
RMC Sport reported the offer, which is £42m, to start with, then others followed up.
The likes of Fabrizio Romano, via his X account, and Matt Law of The Telegraph via his, also then followed up reporting the same thing.
Law states:
‘Chelsea rate chance of signing Jamie Gittens today as 50/50 after making a new £42m bid. Dortmund had been asking for well over £50m.
‘The fact Chelsea have increased their bid today shows they want it done. So where there’s a will….’
Chelsea saw the outrage on Maignan and decided to try get another deal done instead, I reckon!
