The Green Bay Packers made several moves this offseason to strengthen their roster. On offense, they added Aaron Banks and Mecole Hardman through free agency. Additionally, the team bolstered their receiving corps by drafting Matthew Golden and Savion Williams to increase competition. Moreover, they also drafted Anthony Belton to bolster the trenches.
On defense, the Packers signed Nate Hobbs in free agency and drafted Barryn Sorrell, Collin Oliver, and Warren Brinson to strengthen the defensive line. While the team released Jaire Alexander, the move will free up $17.12 million in cap space—a significant development as six starters could potentially hit unrestricted free agency in 2026.
Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst did a solid job adding quality and depth to Green Bay's roster this offseason. Recent reports also revealed that Green Bay explored adding more competition, showing interest in a potential trade for a wide receiver from the Baltimore Ravens.

According to ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Packers were interested in breakout receiver Rashod Bateman.
"He went to the Ravens, wanted a new deal," Fowler said. "They essentially said no, but they gave him permission to seek a trade. So he went out on the open market and talked with teams. And I was told there were several teams involved or had interest. Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers. So he saw he had a market, the Ravens saw that. So they said 'Ok, we'll just pay you instead, we won't trade you".
On June 5th, Bateman signed a three-year, $36.75 million extension with $20 million guaranteed, locking him in with the Ravens through the 2029 season. He finished the 2024 regular season with career highs in yards and touchdowns, hauling in 45 catches for 756 yards and 9 touchdowns, establishing himself as a reliable target for two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.
Green Bay’s receiving corps finished the 2024 season ranked third in drops, sparking debate among fans about whether the team needs a number-one receiver moving forward. If Green Bay were to land Bateman in a trade, he would compete for a starting spot in LaFleur’s offense. However, he would not arrive as the clear top target many fans think the offense needs.
