According to Miami’s head coach, veteran tight end Jonnu Smith will not be with the team today, or at all this week, as the Dolphins’ lone Pro Bowler seeks a new deal with the team. Last year, Smith broke several franchise records for yards, including receptions (88), yards (884), and touchdowns (8) by a tight end.
_“You will not see Jonnu on the field today or this week,”_ McDaniel said. _”_ When asked why, he answered, _“That’s something we’ve been in communication with... I’m not really hiding anything, but it’s not about today, and I’m better suited to talk about today.”_
Cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who had a falling out with the team towards the end of the 2024 season, has long been rumored to be on the trade block. He will not be with the team, but is considered an ‘excused’ absence according to Miami’s head coach.
_“No, he’s not here. We are focused on building the Dolphins today, and anything outside of that or distractions, I’m not focused on.”_ When asked how he felt about Miami being unable to find a trade partner, McDaniel didn’t mince any words.
Defensive tackle and team captain Zach Sieler is seeking a new deal, but Miami’s HC confirms he will be on the field this week. He went a step further and debunked rumors that Sieler was a holdout, as he was in the building every day during the team’s voluntary minicamp, according to Miami’s head coach.
_“Zach Sieler, he’s been in the building every single day during the offseason program. You will see him on the field doing some stuff, the length, well, you’ll just have to hold your breath and see.”_
The Dolphins' 2025 mandatory minicamp kicks off today and runs through Wednesday, June 12th.
