Borussia Dortmund reject €50m second bid from Chelsea for Jamie Gittens — report

Borussia Dortmund had supposedly set their asking price in the range of €50-60m for Jamie Gittens.

Chelsea’s first offer, of €35m did not meet that and was therefore rejected.

Chelsea’s second offer, of €50m did seem to meet that ... but has now also been rejected?

Guess the asking price is higher? (Reports now saying €65-70m!?)

Granted, we don’t know the details and the exact makeup of these bids. They could be looking for a flat fee and we could be offering something more complicated or convoluted (i.e. with conditions and add-ons and bonuses and whatnot). Or maybe they are just seeing how much they can squeeze out of the big-spenders. They’ve seen other clubs have plenty of success in that regard.

While it’s said to be not a factor in this case, the first portion of this summer’s [transfer window](http://www.sbnation.com/transfer-rumors) is ending tonight, at 7pm local time (four hours before the usual hour). The window will reopen next week, though any player signed after tonight won’t be able to partake in the group stage of the Club World Cup, for whatever that’s worth (again, not really a consideration for the club).

No need to rush things.
