There is a clear priority for Arsenal in the summer transfer window with the club working on bringing a new striker to the Emirates Stadium.
After failing to complete a deal for a centre-forward - in the January transfer window - injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz meant that Mikel Arteta was left without a recognised striker for the final few months of the campaign.
Arsenal will be keen for history to not repeat itself, with a striker a priority in the summer window. Several names have been on the list of potential targets, including Newcastle United star Alexander Isak and Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres.
It, however, seems that Red Bull Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko has emerged as the leading target. Arsenal are already reported to have held talks with Leipzig chiefs over a potential deal - with the player himself open to the switch.
It is said that while talks are ongoing, a deal is not yet imminent. There could also be an extra delay over Arsenal getting the transfer over the line.
That is because the summer transfer window officially closes for a short period, at 7pm tonight (Tuesday, 10 June). This short window early in the summer has been introduced to allow clubs involved in the Club World Cup to add to their squads ahead of the tournament, which starts next week.
Restrictions on how long a transfer window can remain open means that it has to shut for a short period of time, before re-opening again later this month. Therefore any deals not completed before tonight's deadline will not go through official until the transfer re-opens again on June 16.
That is now expected to be the case for Arsenal and Sesko. Even while the window is closed, there is no stopping clubs and players continuing negotiations over potential moves.
If progress is made on Sesko between now and the window opening, then Arsenal could potentially even announce his arrival. But a deal wouldn't be official, while Sesko wouldn't be an Arsenal player until June 16.
If a deal is done in time, then the striker could join up with the rest of the Arsenal squad for the first time when they return for pre-season training. The squad usually return in early July.
