Marc-Andre ter Stegen has headed off on holiday after featuring for Germany in the Nations League finals with his future at Barcelona very much still in doubt.
Barcelona are closing in on a deal for Espanyol stopper Joan Garcia, meaning Ter Stegen may well be surplus to requirements.
According to Cope’s Helena Condis, the goalkeeper “hasn’t heard from Barcelona” and “isn’t going to call any meetings for the time being.”
Condis adds that Ter Stegen is “ready to face the competition” in goal at Barcelona and has also told his representatives that if any interested parties call then they should be told “he wants to stay at Barcelona.”
All of which means this does not look like a situation that is going to be resolved any time soon. Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has urged Barca to let Ter Stegen know what’s going on, but with the goalkeeper now heading for some time off that may have to wait.
