Man Utd could use one of Ruben Amorim’s talented attackers at ‘centre of the package’ for Victor Osimhen transfer

Manchester United are reportedly ‘evaluating the possibility’ of using one first-team player under Ruben Amorim as part of an offer for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

Victor Osimhen has been linked with Manchester United in recent months and the Red Devils are in desperate need to bring in a new striker for Ruben Amorim.

The 26-year-old Nigerian striker spent last season out on loan at Galatasaray after he left Napoli and completed his move to the Turkish side in September 2024.

Victor Osimhen had attracted transfer interest from both Premier League side Chelsea and Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ahli ahead of his move to Galatasaray.

The Napoli loanee impressed during his spell with the Super Lig champions and Osimhen netted 37 times and registered eight assists in 41 matches.

United-linked Osimhen inked a new deal with the Italian side back in 2023 and the Galatasaray player’s contract with Napoli is set to expire in 2026.

Joshua Zirkzee could become a makeweight in Man Utd’s transfer move for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli

Napoli are expected to play hardball over any negotiations for Victor Osimhen and the Nigeria striker is believed to have a £63m transfer clause in his contract.

Manchester United’s spending power will be limited in the summer window due to the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) that are in place.

The Red Devils missed out on the lucrative income of European football after their poor Premier League form and United’s defeat in the Europa League final last season.

United finished 15th under Ruben Amorim in the 2024-25 campaign, which was the Red Devils’ worst position in the Premier League table since the league’s inception.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Alejandro Garnacho is ‘on vacation in Rome’ and is ‘now part of the past,’ meaning that Napoli are unlikely to sign him now.

The Italian newspaper added that United could now turn to Joshua Zirkzee instead of Alejandro Garnacho as a potential makeweight for a deal for Osimhen.

Why Man Utd would reportedly use Joshua Zirkzee as a key part of a transfer offer for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen

Joshua Zirkzee signed for United last summer and the 24-year-old Dutch forward struggled to make a real impact in the final third in his debut season for the club.

The Netherlands international, who is under contract with United until 2029, only netted seven times and registered three assists in 49 matches for the Red Devils.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that United are considering putting Zirkzee ‘at the centre of the package’ to sign Osimhen from Napoli this summer.

The publication added that Zirkzee failed to ‘live up to the expectations’ at United and the Netherlands striker has ‘left an excellent memory’ in Italy.

United agreed a deal worth £36.54m to sign Zirkzee from Serie A side Bologna last July, but the United striker’s future has been cast in doubt in recent months.
