Leeds United only club to ‘make concrete move’ – Everton not moving, big Whites offer assessed

Leeds United are the only club to ‘make a concrete move’ for RC Strasbourg midfielder Habib Diarra so far, with Everton not acting on their interest in the 21-year-old.

That’s [according to L’Equipe](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Mercato-pourquoi-le-milieu-strasbourgeois-habib-diarra-vaut-aussi-cher/1569097), who report that Leeds’ current offer for the midfielder is being assessed by the French side as Everton have seemingly dropped out.

The newspaper says their current bid is €26m, including bonuses, which is above the €20m value he’s been assigned by websites such as Transfermarkt.

They believe that the price will have risen by a little more by the end of the window, with the price consistently rising. Lens offered €17m last summer but Strasbourg refused, determined to get a minimum of €20m.

Now there’s a ‘release agreement’ in place to not negotiate for less than €25-30m. Leeds are the only club to have made a concrete offer at present. That in itself, has caused surprise by some observers. Insiders at Strasbourg believe he is among the best in Ligue 1 and deserving of more attention.

Everton were among the interested parties a year ago but have not moved since. They do not appear to be reviving their interest this summer, at least for now. Brighton also showed an interest in January, while Eintracht Frankfurt are known to be admirers.

Leeds have looked to put themselves out in front with a high bid, perhaps scaring the competition away. their offer is being assessed, but they also need to work on Diarra, who is not yet keen on the move to Elland Road.
