Just 10 days after opening, the summer transfer window will close for just under a week as Premier League clubs rush to conclude their early business.
The transfer window will pause for six days, closing today (Tuesday, June 10) at 7pm, and reopening on Monday, June 16. The window closing is due to the Club World Cup, which is being held in America.
An exceptional registration period was created to allow the competing sides to register players in advance of the competition, but not to allow them an advantage in the market, all clubs were permitted to make transfers from Sunday, June 1.
The window must close again to adhere to Premier League regulations, which states that the summer transfer window must open “at midnight on the date 12 weeks prior to the date on which it is to conclude.”
That falls on June 16, when the window will reopen until 12 weeks later on Monday, September 1.

The switch to end the window at 7pm has been made to benefit club staff working on transfer, who had previously worked into the night to complete deals to the 11pm deadline, and in some cases, deals which have been given extended deadlines.
There are still a number of deals that could be concluded before tonight’s deadline. However, with no pressure on those clubs not in the Club World Cup to conclude deals tonight, some moves, including Florian Wirtz’s proposed move to Liverpool, may have to wait.
Liverpool’s move for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, Arsenal’s attempts to sign Martin Zubimendi, and Manchester United’s swoop for Bryan Mbeumo will all now likely continue into next week and beyond.
Here, the Daily Star Sport looks at the transfers most likely to be completed before the window slams shut.
Rayan Cherki
City’s involvement in the Club World Cup sees them face a race against time to wrap up their business in order to allow their new signings to play in the tournament.
And Rayan Cherki’s £34million from Lyon is set to be completed before the deadline. The 21-year-old agreed personal terms with City last week and the deal appears only subject to confirmation.
Jamie Gittens

Chelsea are the other English club in action in the Club World Cup, and the Blues could get a deal for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens across the line.
The Blues have reportedly launched a €50m (£42.3m) bid. However, the deal is complicated by Dortmund also playing in the revamped competition, meaning if the offer is rejected, the 20-year-old will likely head to the US, but with the Bundesliga giants.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s move for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan has reportedly collapsed and will not be completed before the deadline.
Marcus Bettinelli
Following Scott Carson’s departure from the Etihad, City are in the market for a new goalkeeper to add depth behind Ederson and Stefan Ortega.
And Pep Guardiola has sealed his third signing of the summer in the shape of Chelsea goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli.
Joining Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri, Bettinelli has reportedly agreed a one-year contract, and he’ll join up with City before they head Stateside.

Jobe Bellingham has completed his move to Borussia Dortmund from Sunderland on a five-year deal.
The Championship play-off winners say the fee is around £26.96million, plus £4.2m in add-ons. The 19-year-old, who is following in the footsteps of his older brother Jude in switching England for Dortmund, will join up with BVB in time to play in the Club World Cup.
Diego Coppola
Away from the Club World Cup, Brighton could conclude their move for Hellas Verona defender Diego Coppola.
The Seagulls have scheduled a medical and contract signing for the 21-year-old, according to Fabrizio Romano. The fee is believed to be in the region of £8.5m plus add-ons.
Their efforts to sign £34m-rated 18-year-old Olympiacos striker Charalampos Kostoulas will likely continue when the window reopens.

Al Hilal are the only Saudi club set to compete in the Club World Cup and have been desperately trying to land a marquee signing before the tournament starts, but they have been turned down by Bruno Fernandes, Victor Osimhen and Theo Hernandez.
A short-term loan deal between the two Saudi clubs, both controlled by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), would see the 34-year-old former Chelsea man play in the tournament.
