Chido Obi scores another goal for Denmark U20
The group stage of the Maurice Revello Tournament was completed on Tuesday, with Obi in action for Denmark’s U20 side, having become a key part of the team over the three group stage games.
Obi provided an assist for Denmark on match day one against Mexico, which wowed supporters as it showcased some of his less frequently praised traits.

During match day two, Obi came off the bench to score against Congo in the 95th minute from outside the box, to hold a record of contributing in every game of the tournament.
On Tuesday, Obi wrapped up the group stage with another goal, and it was a true striker’s goal that Ruben Amorim will enjoy. Obi scored in the fifth minute to bring his tally to two goals and an assist in three games, which has him among the MVPs.
Obi’s goal saw him press the Japanese goalkeeper, forcing an error which handed the 17-year-old the easiest goal he will score, and it showed what Amorim has been asking his players to do.
Chido Obi fulfills Ruben Amorim’s ‘mad dogs’ demand with goal for Denmark U20
While it came from Denmark, Obi’s goal still showed traits of what Amorim will be instructing his players to do at United.
Amorim demands his players run like “mad dogs”, a trait that Obi used to score this goal, which means the head coach will be delighted to see the teenager scoring these kinds of goals.
With United hunting for a striker this summer, it is likely that Obi will be firmly in the thinking as he continues to score and impress at whatever level he plays.
Obi will probably start the season as back-up to whoever Ineos signs as number one, potentially Viktor Gyokeres, which will aid his development to learn from a world-class number nine.
Obi has a very bright future, and he is just getting better. Next season could be his breakout.
