Manchester United youngster Reece Munro has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Munro captained the Under-18s in several games last season and has made strong progress in the academy, and he has subsequently been given a professional deal at Old Trafford.

Signing a professional contract is a huge milestone and Munro will now attempt to break into the first team.

The defender started every game as the U18s reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup last season, and United were only knocked out on penalties by eventual winners Aston Villa.

Writing on Instagram, Munro said: "Delighted to announce I’ve signed my first professional contract with this massive club, a proud moment for me and my family

"Thank you to those who have played a role in my journey so far. Hard work continues."

Munro, 18, is an athletic centre-back and he delivered consistently strong performances in 2024/25.

The London-born defender reads the game well and is capable of playing at right-back as well as in the centre. Munro was part of the U18s' memorable trophy-winning campaign in 2023/24.
