Leeds United can sign Daniel Farke his very own Youri Tielemans for £17m

Leeds United could sign their very own Youri Tielemans for just £17million this summer - according to reports.

Having rubber-stamped a dream return to the Premier League by winning the Championship title, Leeds are now working hard behind-the-scenes to strengthen Daniel Farke's squad.

A new No 1 goalkeeper and attacking reinforcements are thought to be on radar, but the Whites also continue to be linked with several midfielders, including Belgium starlet Mario Stroeykens.

The 20-year-old, who plays for RSC Anderlecht, has been capped 12 times by his nation's U21s side, while he made 23 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League last season.

Stroeykens - an attacking midfielder by trade - also has Europa League experience under his belt. Reports from journalist Sacha Tavolieri indicate that Leeds have held initial discussions with the player, regarding personal terms, but no formal offer has yet been submitted to Anderlecht for his in-demand services.

Leeds are not the only Premier League side claimed to be interested in Stroeykens, however, with West Ham also said to be monitoring his situation with a departure from Belgium thought to be likely.

With his contract due to expire next summer, a £17million price tag has reportedly been placed on him.

Highly-rated across Europe and beyond, Stroeykens has been likened to Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans in the past by Belgian publication Het Laatste Nieuws - with Tielemans himself progressing through the academy at Anderlecht before spells at AS Monaco, Leicester City and now Villa.

A glowing snippet from Het Laatste Nieuws on the player read: "Stroeykens is a cocktail of the many conditions that a modern footballer must meet; technique, running ability, intensity, explosiveness..."

Ex-Anderlecht and current Denmark manager, Brian Riemer, also previously said: "If I go to AC Milan tomorrow, I think Mario Stroeykens is the first one I'll take with me. He's fit, he's technical, and he's a midfielder who provides goals and assists. A Bayern Munich-type [player]."
