Shedeur Sanders and Joe Milton Cowboys Trade Pushed By Clickbait Media

The Dallas Cowboys have made four trades this offseason. Each one has returned a player that could make an impact right away, but quarterback Joe Milton still has some room to develop before seeing the field consistently.

Still, the Cowboys made the move for a reason. They figured Dak Prescott's last backups Cooper Rush and Trey Lance would move on in free agency (which they did), so the need was there and Jerry Jones got the job done.

Plus, Dallas found the position's most athletic prospect with an upside through the roof. With only one regular season game of experience, he has plenty of room to grow in the three years left on his rookie contract.

So, of course the Cowboys wouldn't trade him away so soon...

Right?

Well, not all pundits are that logical.

Johnathan Vankin of Heavy.com put together a senseless idea that pitches Milton being traded to the Cleveland Browns for rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Of all places, Cleveland is already in an unrivaled quarterback controversy this offseason with new faces Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders all fighting for the starting spot while Deshaun Watson recovers from injury.

But now throwing Milton in the mix ... why?

"In a widely-viewed June 4 trade proposal, Heavy.com ... outlined his idea for the Browns to trade Sanders to the Indianapolis Colts for their 2023 first round draft pick Anthony Richardson," Vankin says.

"But rather than take on the remaining two years of Richardson’s four-year, $34 million contract, for a player who has played just 15 games in two seasons, winning eight, it may make more sense to flip Sanders for the high-upside Milton whose contract pays him just $3.2 million over the next three years."

But ... let's not forget ... Milton has just one game played in his career. A lot less than Richardson.

And why would Cleveland choose to pass up on Shedeur so soon? If they wouldn't want him, don't you think the Cowboys wouldn't either? They passed on him multiple times in the Draft just like everybody else.

As much as the Cowboys do in marketing, trading Milton for Sanders would be a downgrade to the roster far more than any revenue that would come as a result.

But if all we're after is "widely-viewed" proposals here?

Then have at it.

Clickbait stats won't get either team closer to seeing any sense in this trade.
