Rodrygo’s two demands to stay at Real Madrid amid Arsenal interest

Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid has been a subject of speculation this summer.

The 24-year-old has reportedly been approached by several Premier League clubs including Arsenal.

But Rodrygo’s father and agent do not want to negotiate with other clubs until the player has spoken to Madrid and their new head coach Xabi Alonso, per [The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6413081/2025/06/10/arsenal-transfer-latest-news-manchester-united-liverpool-chelsea-barcelona-real-madrid/?source=emp_shared_article).

It is said the young forward wants two demands met to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He wants to feel important at the club, having seen his role diminish since the arrivals of Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe.

The Brazilian also prefers playing on the left wing or in a central position, rather than on the right.

Alonso may find it difficult to meet his second demand as the Spanish boss has better options in Vinicius Junior and Mbappe for the two positions.

Rodrygo came to Madrid in 2019 for a fee worth around €45 million and quickly established himself as a regular for the Spanish giants.

He has scored 68 goals in 267 appearances, powering them to three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies.

However, the Brazil international is not entirely happy with a depleted role following the signings of Mbappe and Bellingham.

He made only 22 La Liga starts in 2024-25 under Carlo Ancelotti, regularly sitting on the bench towards the end of the season.

Arsenal are in the market for a new wide player and [particularly admire Rodrygo](https://arsenalnews.co.uk/2025/05/26/rodrygo-could-be-the-game-changer-arsenal-need/) and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

But a deal for either of them is expected to cost them a fortune, making it unlikely a transfer could materialise.
