Benjamin Sesko to Arsenal transfer twist as Victor Osimhen could scupper deal

Arsenal could face a battle in the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko this summer.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with signing Sesko for the last few months, with Sesko scoring 21 goals for Leipzig last term. football.london reported that Arsenal are making advances in their efforts to sign Sesko this summer.

It's also understood that progress has been made in negotiations between Arsenal and Leipzig in a potential deal to bring Sesko to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have until 7pm on Tuesday to complete their transfer business before the window closes for almost a week. The window will reopen on June 16 and remain so for the rest of the summer, which would appear to be the most likely time that the Gunners would agree a deal to sign Sesko.

However, it seems that the future of another striker may affect Arsenal's chances of signing Sesko. The Telegraph has reported that two Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al-Hilal, have expressed an interest in signing the Slovenia international.

The reported interest comes amid speculation that Al-Hilal made an attempt to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli. However, reports have claimed that potential move has fallen through, suggesting that Al-Hilal have now turned their attention to sign Sesko instead.

Leipzig are reported to value Sesko at €80 million (£68 million), and are thought to be willing to sell the striker this summer amid rumoured interest from Saudi Arabia. It has been suggested, though, that Sesko would prefer to stay in Europe rather than complete a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

Sesko is not the only striker to be linked with joining Arsenal this summer. Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres has also been credited as a potential target for the Gunners, but it seems that Sesko is the preferred target for Mikel Arteta's side.
