Howe not pursuing three reported targets – but two exciting options have been discussed

It’s going to be a wild ride this summer for us Newcastle United fans.

Of course, we all hope the transfer window goes smoothly, seeing us land top targets and act swiftly in the market to prepare us for what promises to be a busy but exciting 2025/25 season.

However, there will be twists and turns, highs and lows, and a number of transfer links that get us talking one minute, then turn out to be nothing more than paper talk.

On that subject, it seems a few recent rumours have been played down, for now at least by the club, while two exciting names have been discussed in our search for a new right winger.

According to The Athletic, Newcastle are NOT considering a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin at this stage.

The Everton striker is set to leave the Toffees this summer and become available on a free transfer, but it’s believed he isn’t someone the club are looking to sign, despite previous interest from Eddie Howe.

Two other attacking ‘targets’ are also played down in the report, which sates that Chelsea’s Noni Madueke is not currently under consideration for that right winger slot.

Elsewhere, the club continue to distance themselves from a deal to sign Jack Grealish. Chris Waugh insists that Newcastle ‘do no hold an interest’ in the Man City winger, despite ongoing talk of a loan move should Gordon or Barnes depart.

Although Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga appears to have emerged as a leading target, he’s not the only Premier League winger we’re looking at now Bryan Mbeumo has proved too costly.

The Athletic report that West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo have both been discussed during recruitment meetings.

Much like Lille’s Lucas Chevalier being an option if top goalkeeper target James Trafford doesn’t sign, these are two players the club may look at if a deal can’t be agreed for Elanga.

However, as ever with the Premier League market, both Semenyo and Kudus would not come cheap, leaving us wonder if an overseas surprise may emerge, much like it did with Alexander Isak and Sandro Tonali.
