Crystal Palace move into picture for player – Newcastle United keen on 2 at same club

Crystal Palace have now moved into the picture for Sporting Club de Portugal defender Ousmane Diomande, offering competition to Newcastle United for the 21-year-old.

That’s [according to O Jogo](https://www.ojogo.pt/), who say Crystal Palace could rival Newcastle for the defender, while the Magpies also have Gonçalo Inácio on their shortlist.

The newspaper explains that Crystal Palace are closely monitoring the Ivory Coast international, although he may be difficult to get out of Sporting. The Portuguese side consider Diomande as part of their plans for next season.

The defender has a growing list of admirers, though, with Newcastle, Arsenal and Chelsea all alongside Crystal Palace in showing an interest.

Inácio, meanwhile, is picking up suitors after again impressing for Portugal in their Nations League win over Spain.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle are well aware of the central defender, whose current deal with Sporting expires in 2027. He has a release clause worth €60m in his contract, but he can be signed for less than that. Sporting wouldn’t make negotiations easy, though.

Inácio, for his part, has never hidden a desire to play in Europe’s top league and the feeling is that the time for a move may be fast approaching.
