West Ham have been criticised for their decision on Michail Antonio’s future.
The Hammers ace is out of contract this summer, but the matter has been complicated by the injuries that he suffered in a car crash in December.
Graham Potter’s side announced (9 June) that they will not decide on his future at the moment because he is still recovering from surgery on a broken leg.
It is understood that the Irons have offered the 35-year-old a new deal, but he is holding out for a better deal, either with the London Stadium outfit or elsewhere.

Jordan furious with West Ham’s Antonio announcement
Antonio’s future in East London remains uncertain as a result of the latest announcement, with no decision being made anytime soon.

Simon Jordan was stunned by the situation and believes that the Irons do not owe their record Premier League goalscorer any favours, with a different deal suggested.
Speaking on talkSPORT (10 June, 11:43 am), he said: “I’m not suggesting that I am blaming anyone for it, but it certainly is not West Ham’s fault.
“With that in mind, West Ham have got to be realistic, they are not a registered charity, I am surprised they are prepared to offer him a deal.
“I would have been more inclined to be on a pay-as-you-play basis, and ultimately, if he can get back to the level, he can be renumerated.”
Antonio decision is a risk for West Ham
Antonio’s history with the E20 club is nothing short of legendary, his 68 strikes are the most of any Hammers player since the rebrand of the top-flight.
However, Potter’s side needs a huge rebuild and keeping the Jamaica international around when he is reportedly on £90,000-a-week is a major risk for David Sullivan and Co.
There is no guarantee that he will ever return to the kind of player that he was before he suffered the injuries and it would be a clever move to get the money off the books.
TV commentator Ian Darke told West Ham Zone that the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League winners may make a “ruthless” decision on the 21-cap international.
However, they may decide to be sentimental to the detriment of their wage bill and financial health, but after what he has been through it may be the right decision.
At the very least, he deserves a proper send-off from supporters, on the pitch, rather than one where he does not get to say a proper goodbye to the fans who have watched him perform magic for years.
